Cheese Sambusak Recipe with AEVO

Preparation Time: - 45 minutes

Ingredients: -

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup AEVO Oil (Avocado Extra Virgin Oil)
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Directions: -

1. Prepare the Dough: -

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
  • Gradually add the AEVO Oil while stirring continuously.
  • Slowly incorporate the warm water until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

2. Prepare the Cheese Filling: -

  • In a separate bowl, mix together feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, chopped parsley, and black pepper.

3. Assemble the Sambusak: -

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Divide the rested dough into golf ball-sized portions.
  • Roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
  • Spoon a generous amount of the cheese filling onto one half of the circle, leaving a small border.
  • Fold the other half of the circle over the filling, forming a half-moon shape.
  • Seal the edges by pressing with a fork.

4. Bake: -

  • Place the assembled sambusak on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush each sambusak with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

5. Serve: -

  • Allow the sambusak to cool for a few minutes before serving.
