Fish & Chips with AEVO

Preparation Time: -

 Total: 35 minutes

Ingredients: -

  • 4 white fish fillets (cod or haddock)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups cold sparkling water
  • 2 large potatoes, cut into fries
  • AEVO Oil for frying
  • Salt for seasoning

Directions: -

1. Prepare the Fish: -

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Gradually whisk in sparkling water until the batter is smooth.
  • Dip each fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.

2. Cook the Fries: -

  • In a separate pot, heat AEVO Oil to 350°F (180°C).
  • Fry the potato fries until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  • Sprinkle with salt while hot.

3. Fry the Fish: -

  • In the same pot, add more AEVO Oil if needed.
  • Carefully place battered fish into the hot oil.
  • Fry until the fish is golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  • Place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

4. Serve: -

  • Plate the fish and chips together.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauces (tartar sauce, ketchup, or malt vinegar).
